Curriculum
Our Early Years Practitioners offer engaging experiences for children to explore throughout the day. We consider each child's interests and individual needs, including those with specific requirements and disabilities who may need extra support to in our childcare environment.
Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework is the curriculum that we follow.
There are 7 areas of learning and development:
PRIME areas focus on Personal, Social & Emotional development, Communication & Language & Physical Development.
SPECIFIC areas focus on Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts & Design.
These 7 areas of learning are underpinned by the Characteristics of Learning - Playing & Exploration, Active Learning and Creating & Thinking Critically. Within the children's day we will assess and observe their play focussing on the 7 areas of learning.
Our Unique Curriculum
At Towcester Tots, our curriculum is inspired by a blend of the Curiosity Approach, Montessori, Birth to Five Matters, Steiner and Te Whāriki and Philosophies.
We create a warm, home-from-home environment where children are loved, nurtured and encouraged to lead their own learning through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.
By following Children's interests, and celebrating their individuality, we support every child to develop confidence, curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning.
Our Planning in the Nursery
We organise our ongoing learning offerings and create invitations to explore based on children's interests, while also developing various areas within the nursery throughout the year, particularly around children's interests and special events like festivals.
After our observations and interactions, we document the outcomes using the "famly" online learning journal.
Each week, we focus on children and incorporate their home interests into our planning. Additionally, we embrace spontaneous moments that arise, enhancing continuous learning.
